Twenty thousand years ago the planet was immersed in the last known glaciation. It was during this period when the inhabitants of
Europe, fleeing the ice, moved to the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, finding a climatic refuge in today’s Galicia. Ten thousand years later, already in the Neolithic era, the Würm glaciation recedes and the population migrated from Galicia to Ireland and from Ireland to Britain, eventually returning back to continental Europe. This is the great epic voyage of the Celts!

Um País Normal
O outro dia andavam a perguntar como imagino eu um (meu) país "normal". Isto é o que falei:
O Meu País Normal é um país que sai bem pintadinho em todos os atlas do mundo, para que quando diga "sou da Galiza" a gente simplesmente comente, "ah, bem". Nem mais nem menos.
O Meu País Normal é um país pequeno, mas dinâmico e optimista, povoado por gentes amáveis e trabalhadoras, prontas a ajudar e ao tempo orgulhosas em transformar este país num exemplo de como as cousas podem ser feitas.
No Meu País Normal não há partidos "nacionalistas", porque todos são partidos nacionais.
No Meu País Normal não se fala de normativas porque há duas oficiais a usar livremente. Neste País todas as minorias são respeitadas, todas, e partilhamos com elas uma sociedade vibrante e variada que só pode abrir novos caminhos e oportunidades de futuro, para todos.
O Meu País Normal é, em resumo, um país dono de seu formado por gentes cultas.

Galicien ist ein auf den Atlantik gehendes Land, das gleichwohl zur Welt des Mittelmeeres gehört. Seine romanisch-südliche Identität wird durch seine Lage im Westen Europas nuanciert, durch die es alte und tiefgehende Verbindungen mit anderen Ländern des Atlantiks unterhält. Trotz seiner Lage am Rande des Kontinents kamen seit dem Mittelalter tausende und abertausende von Pilgern nach Galicien auf dem Jakobsweg, wodurch sich Wissen, Techniken und Kunststile vermengten. Eine nur teilweise Industrialisierung ließ die traditionelle Gesellschaft und ihre Kultur in vielen Gebieten Galiciens bestehen, so dass das gegenwärtige künstlerische Schaffen Werke von großer Originalität in einer mehr und mehr globalen Welt hervorbingt.

Where are you from you said?
Sick and tired of having to explain that I'm not a penguin from friggin' Antarctica (it may actually happen one of these days!) I've created a new section where I attempt to explain where I'm from. It's more like a short introduction to Galiza (Galicia) in fact.
Sure someone will still wonder if I'm really from Bolivia, or Alaska, or.. where was it again? Nepal? Oh well!
